Domestic Violence

"Domestic violence is widely understood to be a pattern of behaviour used by one person to gain power and control over another person with whom he/she has or has had an intimate relationship."

This pattern of behaviour may include physical violence, sexual, emotional, and psychological intimidation, verbal abuse, stalking, and using electronic devices to harass and control. Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence, whatever their age, race, economic status, religion, sexual orientation, or education.

"While men can be victims of domestic violence, women represent the overwhelming majority of victims of such violence."

Domestic Assault Lawyers, Whitby.

We have successfully defended numerous cases involving Domestic Assault and our firm has extensive experience in this area of law. There are a wide variety of scenarios that give rise to “Domestic Assault” cases. Sometimes one spouse will attempt to use an allegation of Domestic Assault or even Sexual Assault, to exclude the other spouse from the matrimonial home as part of an overall tactic related to property and custody issues. In such cases, the individual charged is removed from the matrimonial home and contact with children must be arranged through a third party. Our Firm has the Family Law experience coupled with the Criminal Law expertise to successfully conclude both of your cases.
